When it came to relationships, Tinzley Bradford settled for any man that happened along her path. She didn’t want to appear socially awkward-she didn’t want others to think that she couldn’t hold down a man or get married.
One day, that all changed. She realized her worth and set out on her mission to empower other women with her no-nonsense tips on choosing your mate.
This week, Tinzley and I discuss a topic that may seem strange: signs he’s settling for you. And let’s face it, no one wants a man that’s only half-way in the relationship.
If your man finds himself not doing the things he used to love in order to fulfill your needs, he’s settling for you. He may feel guilty about spending time with his male friends or his family without including you. All of a sudden, he realizes that he’s sacrificing large parts of his life to make you happy-which isn’t fair. Don’t force the relationship to be co-dependent by forcing him to spend all of his time for you. Allow both of you the space to branch out and have time for yourselves, which will make for a healthier, happier, independent relationship.
One of the other sure signs he’s settling for you is when he’s with you simply to gain something from the relationship. Whether it be your own home or your income, he’ll move in simply to gain a bit of financial stability. But who is to say he’ll stick around for the long run? What’s stopping him from disappearing and never allowing you to take the real step of moving in with each other out of commitment? If he has moved in with you, and he’s not in a financial stable place at the moment, urge him the time to get the things he needs before taking the relationship to the next level of moving in.
If there are certain things about you that he likes but also things about you that he doesn’t, and he makes both of these two points clear, then he’s settling for you. Don’t allow yourself to be with a man that doesn’t want all of you and only sees a bit of potential in you. Whether he likes certain parts of your body and not others, or he likes a woman with a particular type of job or with a car, then he suspects that you may come up with these material things. He’s settling for you to see where the relationship may end up. Don’t feel as though you need to conform and change yourself to fit any man-do it for yourself.
